Question you may have about the Institute

How long have you been teaching Ayurveda and how much experience do the teachers have?

Dr. Zide Mooni has more than 10 years of experience teaching Ayurveda, and more than 25 years of practical experience. Most of the teachers and lecturers have at least 25 years of experience in medicinal professional experience.

Does Mahima Institute offer (traditional, authentic) Ayurvedic education?

Absolutely. Dr. Zide Mooni has more than 10 years of experience teaching Ayurveda, and spent the past 18 years studying the Ayurvedic system of Medicine with Yogis in India and with his teacher and mentor Swami Devakrsnananda. Swami Devakrsnananda, an Acarya in yogic medicine, is well versed in the ancient system of tantric Spirituality and Yogic Philosophy and Healing. Mahima Institute presents the knowledge and wisdom of Ayurveda in a refined form as intended by the great sage Kapila Muni, the founder of the Sankhya philosophy.

On the clinical side of the Institute, how long ago has Mahima Acupuncture and Ayurveda Wellness Center has been established?

Mahima Wellness Center has been established since 1997.

What is the Association for Ayurvedic Professionals in North America (AAPNA) about?

AAPNA is developing International Standards for Ayurvedic Education and Practice (ISAEP) where Ayurveda is not yet recognized and licensed. Becoming a member of AAPNA will allow the student to connect with other Ayurvedic and integrative health professionals all over the world to share knowledge, enrich their existing practice, and spread the knowledge of Ayurveda and Vedic sciences.

Will there be access to talk to someone on the phone, to help me if I have any questions about the study material and classes?

Each student will be assigned a support member with his/her contact information. Students can have up to 25 hours of learning support from their support member or other school’s faculty staff, if they have any questions or need help regarding the certification program, courses and/or any projects.

What is the certification program Ayurveda Wellness Counselor about?

The certification program Ayurveda Wellness Counselor, which is Ayurveda level 1, is part of a three year program leading to become an Ayurvedic practitioner with a Masters in Ayurveda. This first year program is geared to provide the fundamental  theories and practices which are the basis to the other two levels. This program will teach you self-awareness. It will teach you the deeper aspects of yourself in the physical, mental, and spiritual planes. It will teach and help you to take better care of your health through the knowledge of proper nutrition and lifestyle. By acquiring and implementing the study of Ayurveda in your life, you will be able to help those who are seeking help, including family, friends, and clients.

Once you complete the program, you will be able to focus on health and disease prevention. You will be able to evaluate an individual’s constitution and give them some recommendations in regards to their lifestyle, dietary habits, and exercise/yoga/breathing practices. You will be knowledgeable on the value of using different herbs, and oil therapies.

How long is the program?

The program is estimated to last 9 months but the length of time will depend on how quickly you have moved through the courses at your own pace so it could take less than the estimated 9 months.

How many hours are needed?

The total hours needed for the Ayurveda Program – Ayurveda Health & Lifestyle Coach are 400 hours.

How would I benefit from the certification as an Ayurveda Wellness Counselor?

On a personal level:

•   Learn how to maintain and restore balance to both body and mind and get a better understanding of disease prevention, as you will:

•   Assess your constitution at the body/mind/spirit level and detect any current imbalance

•   Become aware of recommended daily routines and guidelines based on your constitution and/or current imbalance. These daily routines and guidelines include:

•   Dietary habits and nutritional plans

•   Dinacharya, which are specific Ayurvedic daily routines

•   Breathing techniques and types of exercise (yoga postures and recommended sports)

•   Herbs, herbal formulas and specific blends for healing oils

•   Ayurvedic therapies

•   Develop self-awareness to reach a higher state of consciousness

•   Teach and share this knowledge with others

•   Offer workshops to yoga studios, health centers, community centers or at people’s homes such as cooking workshops from our pre-designed workshops

•   Start a business in Ayurvedic health as a business venture in a spa or wellness center

•   Go deeper in the study of Ayurveda by enrolling in Ayurveda levels 2 & 3, which will soon be added to our curriculum. You may then pursue your goal of becoming an Ayurvedic practitioner with a Master’s in Ayurveda, After completion of the certificate as an Ayurveda Wellness Counselor (Ayurveda level 1), you will have the foundation to study Ayurveda more in depth and pursue our imminent the following

two year

program.

* For certain Ayurvedic therapies (such as massage) a license is required.

Do you offer a payment plan?

What if I change my mind? Can I get a refund?

•   All cancellation notifications must be done in written format such as a mail letter, e-mail, fax, or hand delivery for proper processing.

•   All payments will be refunded if the applicant is not accepted by the Institute or if the student cancels within three (3) business days after signing the Enrollment Agreement and making an initial deposit.

•   Cancellation after the third business day, but before the first module, will result in refund of all funds paid, with the exception of the non-refundable registration fee in the amount of $100.00 and the non-refundable membership registration fee with AAPNA in the amount of $150.00 (only for Exceptional package).

•   Cancellation or withdrawal after receiving the first course, will result in no refund.

•   Refunds will be made within 30 days of termination or receipt of cancellation notice.

Do you have financial aid available?

At this time, we do not have financial aid available but we do offer a payment plan.
